Instructions for Authors
General Instructions
All work submitted to Journal of Access and Success (JAS) should be original and not previously published in or submitted to another journal. If it was previously or will be included in a presentation, including CCBA conferences and forums, the submitted version submitted to JAS should significantly extend the proceedings version.
Work submitted to JAS will undergo review by the issue’s guest editor, will be returned to the author if revisions are suggested, and will be copyedited and proofread in-house before final acceptance. The author will be sent a final version before publication.
Articles must be submitted in English.
Copies of Power Point presentations will not be accepted for publication.
Content
Articles should address issues, research findings and best practices relevant to the mission of the CCBA:
It is the mission of the CCBA to promote better access to the baccalaureate degree on community college campuses and to serve as a resource for information about various models for accomplishing this purpose. Models include University Centers, Distance Learning, 2 + 2 Agreements and the conferring of four-year degrees by community colleges to meet local needs.
Letters to the editor, book reviews, commentaries and opinion pieces will be accepted for review. The Managing Editor is responsible for final approval for publication.
Submission Procedures
To submit work, please send an email message to BHagan7@aol.com with the subject line "JAS Submission." Include complete contact information, i.e., the principal author's name, affiliation, address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address. Attach the work as a Microsoft Word file.
Acknowledgment of receipt of the work will be sent to the author.
Obtaining Releases
Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary releases/permissions required for their article when releases are necessary.
Style
Length
Articles should not exceed 2,500 words and should include a 50-word abstract.
Letters to the editor should not exceed 750 words.
Artwork
Artwork (e.g., figures, graphs, and pictures) should be submitted as separate graphics files (e.g., .tif, .gif, .jpg). Tables should be prepared with a word-processing program.
References
Using an author-date citation style, authors should list all works cited in the text alphabetically at the end of the article in APA or similar style. Contact the Managing Editor for confirmation that a style is acceptable.
