CCBA Board Names Dr. Joyce Hammer Chair Dr. Lisa Rhine and Dr. Marshall Mease Roache Welcomed as New Members
The Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCBA), supported by a national Board of Directors, provides leadership and resources to community colleges that build and sustain high-value, career-focused baccalaureate degrees, maximizing opportunities for all learners to achieve family-sustaining careers. To that end, this month, the nine-member Board announced the following changes and additions:
Dr. Joyce Hammer, Deputy Executive Director for Education, Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, takes on the responsibilities of Board Chair in partnership with Vice Chair Dr. Cynthia Spiers, President, Rhodes State College. Michaela Tomova, Ed.D., Vice Provost, Academic Affairs, Miami Dade College, will now serve as Secretary, and Dr. Michael G. Hansen, Former President of Michigan Community College Association, will continue to serve as Treasurer.
Joining the Board as members are Dr. Lisa Rhine, President of Yavapai College, and Dr. Marshall Mease Roache, President of Oregon Coast Community College.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Rhine and Dr. Roache to the CCBA Board. As we continue to advance the national CCB movement, their higher education expertise and commitment to the CCBA vision will help us continue to ensure all students have broad access to high-value, high-quality baccalaureate degrees that contribute to the economic vitality of their communities,” CCBA President Dr. Angela Kersenbrock said.
Following more than 20 years of board service, Dr. Roberta C. Teahen, Associate Provost Emeritus and Faculty, Ferris State University and Dr. Ali Esmaeili, Dean of the Division of Math, Science, & Bachelor Programs, South Texas College who most recently served as Board Chair and Vice Chair, will retain titles as Board Emeritus members.
“We are so grateful for the many years of dedicated service Roberta and Ali have dedicated to the CCBA Board, its members, and our CCB states,” Kersenbrock added. “Their time and talents have strengthened the organization and supported our mission tremendously.”
Dr. Constance Carroll, President and CEO of the California Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCCBA); Donna Meyer, CEO Emeritus of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing; and Dr. Dalia Sherif, Senior Executive Director of Workforce at Seattle Colleges, also serve as CCBA Board members.
