The CCBA Student Scholars Program recognizes academic excellence among students pursuing bachelor’s degrees at community colleges.

Deadline: October 16, 2026 — completed applications and all required documents must be received by this date. Finalists may be required to participate in interviews before recipients are selected and notified.

Scholarship award package

CCBA Student Scholars will be recognized during the 2027 CCBA National Conference in Albuquerque, NM (February 17–19, 2027). Each awardee earns:

Awardees’ colleges may be asked to provide additional financial support as necessary.

Recipients are expected to accept their award on stage and deliver brief remarks to an audience of approximately 250 community college administrators and faculty. Awardees will also be highlighted in the CCBA newsletter, website, social media, and marketing materials.

Minimum academic qualifications

  1. Completed a minimum of 12 credits of community college bachelor’s (CCB) coursework by the end of Summer 2026, with preference given to students enrolled in the final 12 or fewer credits during the 2026 academic year. BSN students must have graduated from an AS or AAS in Nursing program, hold an active RN license, be accepted into a BSN program, and be enrolled in at least two BSN courses. Students in LPN to BSN transition programs may also apply.
  2. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater in bachelor’s level coursework or AS in Nursing.
  3. Attended a community college that is an active institutional or district member of CCBA at the time of application.

Selection criteria

Candidates are evaluated on the qualifications above and:

  1. Significance of the scholarship to the applicant.
  2. Potential for academic, professional, and personal success based on academic record and student letter.

Required documents

  1. A written essay of up to 500 words explaining why this financial assistance will be valuable to you in your pursuit of a baccalaureate degree and/or your career and/or life plans upon completion of the degree. We encourage you to speak to how this choice may benefit you personally and professionally, and may also benefit your family and your community.
  2. Unofficial transcript from the community college you are currently attending showing bachelor’s level courses enrolled in and/or completed.
  3. A letter of recommendation from a college faculty or staff member; an employer or an individual who can support your qualifications.
